Site Preparation
Knepp Excavating will come after the survey is done. Then the work will begin to remove trees, bushes, and other debris. They will also dig the new foundation and make sure that the soil is compacted. When any digging is going on for your basement or footer, we will make sure that it is precised and exact. We strive to do it right the first time.
Once the footers are put in, we will come back and do the back fill around the footer. We will make sure that we have graded away from your home, so that you will avoid water in your basement in the future.
Now we will do a rough leveling around the house, and once we can get back in to do a final grading around the house. It is very important to make sure that you have the right slope to your yard.
What is Erosion?
Erosion is the natural process by which soil and rock is removed from on area, and then carry to and put it in a different spot. This changing process occurs from wind, rainfall and water flow. Unfortunately, the rate by which erosion occurs has significantly increases over time due to human influences and activities.
If your yard doesn’t have proper drainage and erosion control, runoff can lead to a significant erosion event, that will carry away your top soil. Creating havoc on your landscaping, also this can cause damage to your home.
How to Fix Erosion and Allowing Proper Water Flow
If your downspout is the part of your erosion issue, try to put a rain barrel or other form of a water catch system, and possibility putting a spout on it, and then you will be able to attach a hose and use this to water flowers and gardens.
First thing is that Knepp Excavating will come out to your property and look at the issue that you are having. Then we will sit down with you to come up with a plan on how to fix this issue. We will make so that the water drains away from your house, and possibly through a rock bed to keep your soil in place.
Once we have a design done, we will make sure that proper routing as the layout is complete. We will do a partial section testing to be positive that each section as we layout your new system is doing exactly what is needed for performance and preventing any surprises down the road. Unfortunately sometimes soils need artificial drainage to improve production or to manage water supplies.

When your project is finished, and there is leftover dirt, rocks, and debris. We have the equipment to remove the unwanted dirt and rocks from your property. After we have removed the unused materials from your property, we will make sure that we will leave you with a clean, and debris-free area.
